PARENTAL OR LEGAL GUARDIAN PERMISSION FOR INTERNET ACCESS
FOR A PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 14

AMERICAN FAMILY LIFE, Inc., in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations provides online Privacy Protection for internet access directed to children less than 13 years of age and some states 13 year olds are included. We apply the same laws and regulations to persons under 14 years of age as related to the internet use with imposed obligations as an “internet service provider” (ISP) and “internet content host” (ICH), which includes the following restrictions:
American Family Life as an ISP will take reasonable steps to ensure that Internet access accounts (‘access accounts’) are not provided to persons under the age of 14 years without the consent of a parent, teacher or other responsible adult.
To the extent applicable, each Internet Content Host will take reasonable steps to ensure that content subscription accounts for content hosted by the Internet Content Host (‘subscription accounts’) are not provided to persons under the age of 14 years without the consent of a parent, teacher or other responsible adult.
The American Family Life Interactive Website provides a suite a of electronic resources to all students, including services relating to email, library resources, online education resources and management of personal details. However, in line with obligations described above, students under the age of 14 years require written consent from a parent, guardian or other responsible adult before they are granted access to the wider internet (i.e., access to sites outside of American Family Life). Access to the internet is by and large unsupervised, although it may be monitored from time to time to ensure compliance with American Family Life guidelines for acceptable use.
Guidelines and Conditions:
1.1 Students under the age of 14 years accessing the American Family Life Interactive Website must have written parental/guardian permission.
1.2 The American Family Life Interactive Website archive and storage areas may be reviewed at random to ensure that the resources are being used appropriately.
1.3 Users should not expect that files stored on the servers will always be private or confidential.
1.4 Internet traffic is recorded against specific User Accounts. Information recorded includes, but is not limited to, sites visited and downloads and uploads to and from the Internet.
1.5 Each User is responsible for the network activity of that account. If the User suspects the account has been compromised and/or used with permission, it is their responsibility to reset their password and advise IT Services.
1.6 Any transmission of material that violates Territory, Federal or International legislation is prohibited and Users may face prosecution.
1.7 Users are obligated to report any possible security breach to IT Services.
